Sunlight Mountain Season Opener

Sunlight Mountain Resort near Glenwood Springs, Colorado is getting ready for the season opener on December 4, 2009. Conditions look good with a combination of man-made snow and natural snow-pack from recent storms, including 4 inches within the last 48 hours.

More snow could be in the forecast with possible deposits on Sunday, November 29 and again on December 2, 2009 according to weather reports. Additional accumulations could potentially trigger an early opening for Sunlight. Regardless, nighttime temperatures have been in the teens making for excellent snow making conditions. The resort has not opened for Thanksgiving weekend since 2002.

The release of TGR’s newest film will help get skiers and snowboarders in the mood, playing locally on Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm. Advance tickets and show details are available by visiting the Sunlight Ski and Bike Shop, 309 Ninth Street in Glenwood Springs. Tickets for this event will be $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and younger.

The Glenwood Springs Mall is having an Opening Day Treasure Hunt on December 4. This annual event is a local favorite, and offers a hidden treasure chest stashed somewhere on Sunlight Mountain. The chest contains a season pass to the Resort. For additional details visit the Sunlight Mountain Website.
